Eligibility Criteria & Scholarship Amounts for 2016-2017 SAEP Students

The San Antonio Education Partnership (SAEP) offers the cafécollege Scholarship to students at the 25 SAEP partner high schools. Road to Success (R2S) College Access and Success Advisors at each high school will guide students to meet the cafécollege scholarship eligibility criteria.

cafécollege Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

  • Graduate from an SAEP-partner high school (Complete list here)
  • Complete, sign, and submit the cafécollege Scholarship form by March 31 (to an SAEP College Access and Success Advisor)
  • Achieve an 80 average upon high school graduation (Inclusive: 9-12 grades)
  • Attend three (3) college success activities (see activities list below) and submit proof to an SAEP Advisor
  • Demonstrate financial need with a copy of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA) form and providing a Student Aid Report (SAR) by May 31
  • If eligible for the cafécollege scholarship, you must attend one (1) cafécollege scholarship activation seminar

Scholarships are contingent upon funding availability and may only be used at the following participating colleges and universities:

  • San Antonio Community Colleges ($600/year) – Northeast Lakeview College, Northwest Vista College, Palo Alto College, St. Philip’s College, and San Antonio College
  • San Antonio Public Universities ($850/year) – Texas A&M University-San Antonio, University of Texas at San Antonio, and University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio
  • San Antonio Private Universities ($1,500/year) – Our Lady of the Lake University, St. Mary’s University, Trinity University, and University of the Incarnate Word

College Success Activity Guidelines

Students are required to attend three (3) college success activities, as detailed below:

1.   Students MUST attend at least one (1) College Success Workshop at cafécollege.

2.   Students MUST attend two (2) additional activities from the following list in any combination:

  • A workshop hosted by an SAEP R2S College Access and Success Advisor at the student’s high school campus

(Four [4] will be offered by the R2S Advisor throughout the school year)

  • A college fair or financial aid night/event hosted by student’s high school or school district
  • Additional College Success Workshops at cafécollege
  •  Any additional college success activity that is approved by an SAEP R2S Advisor

3. All required activities must be completed by May 31.

Workshop Documentation

  • It is the responsibility of the student to sign-in with an SAEP R2S Advisor at each event he/she attends.
  • Sign-in records will be kept and recorded to student accounts by the SAEP R2S Advisor.
  • A record of completed activities is available upon request from the SAEP R2S Advisor.

  • Community college: $600/year (Alamo Community Colleges)
  • Public Four-year: $850/year (UTSA, Texas A&M-San Antonio, UTHSC-SA)
  • Private Four-year: $1,500/year (UIW, OLLU, St. Mary’s, Trinity University)
